[GAAC] Collective is a Canadian artist collective dedicated to advancing contemporary geometric abstraction in Canada. Through collaborations, innovation, and public engagements, [GAAC] Collective brings together professional Canadian artists whose practices reflect bold, rigorous, and forward-looking approaches to geometric abstraction.Geometric Abstraction Artists Canada – [GAAC] Collective announces the launch of its new digital platform, marking the emergence of a national collective dedicated to advancing contemporary geometric abstraction within the Canadian art context.
[GAAC] Collective brings together artists from across the country whose practices engage geometry as both a formal language and a conceptual framework – one that continues to evolve in response to material, perceptual, and cultural inquiry. While grounded in the legacy of Canadian geometric abstraction, the collective foregrounds current approaches that challenge, expand, and reimagine the genre’s possibilities today.
The formation of [GAAC] Collective is informed in part by Geoform (2005-2020), the international online scholarly project initiated by Julie Karabenick, which fostered critical discourse around abstract and geometric practices. Building on this foundation, [GAAC] Collective operates as a site of dialogue, exchange, and experimentation, bridging historical lineage with contemporary practice.
